What We Believe

Mission and Values

To impact the Minnesota River Valley area by reaching out in God’s love, helping people to experience the transforming power of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and walking daily with Him.

A Bible-based, family building, culturally relevant, grace and truth oriented, non-denominational Christian church.

The priorities of NewDay Church are to:

  • Worship God in Spirit and in Truth with great joy and gratitude, honor Him as God, and make our personal relationship with Him our number one priority. (John 4:23,24; Romans 12:1,2)
  • Teach the Word of God and encourage individuals to grow in their relationship with our Lord through personal study and worship.
  • Equip God’s people with the Word of God and empower and equip them to use their spiritual gifts and power of the Holy Spirit to do the works of Jesus, not only inside the walls of the church, but especially outside in the neighborhoods where we live, and the marketplaces where we work. (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:11-13)
  • Expand God’s kingdom by demonstrating God’s grace, His unconditional love, and His transforming power so each person has an opportunity to know God personally. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18)

Love God. Love People. Kingdom Growth.

Prepare – and seek the vision of our Father’s heart and the direction of His will through prayer, prophecy, and best practices as described in Ephesians.

Reach Out – meet people outside of the church building right where they’re at. We partner with Holy Spirit as witnesses of the gospel. (Mark 16:15)

Disciple – all nations starting in our community, using practical methods like The Alpha Course, a marriage course, and kids and youth programs. We value fellowship by going smaller through life groups as we grow larger as a family of God. (1 John 1:7, Acts 1:8)

Equip – all people to walk in their true identity as Christ followers (Celebrate Recovery, Bible studies, Freedom in Christ Inner Healing ministry) (Ephesians 4:12-14)

Train Up – God’s people for supernatural gospel ministry; equip them for a lifetime of kingdom service and grow in them a heart for evangelism and revival. (Ephesians 4:12-14, John 14:22, Mark 16:16)

Send Out – God’s people to local and international mission opportunities. The goal is to enable people to live in God’s work and power. We believe that Jesus calls us to do what He did and even greater because He left us His Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

Core Values

Core Values are different from a doctrinal statement. Core Values are a comment on how we intend to function, live, and relate to one another and the world around us. They are the lifestyle we are committing ourselves to. They all revolve around LOVE because that is what our Lord tells us to do.

We are committed to creating a culture of honor. We believe that when God’s people choose to honor God first, and then honor all fellow human beings as created in God’s image, the favor and blessing of God will embrace that community. Exodus 20:5-6; Matthew 10:40-43

We are committed to unity and cooperation in the whole body of Christ, not just in our local body at NewDay Church. We choose to view other churches as our partners in ministry. Our competition is the world and our enemy is Satan and his kingdom of darkness. 1 Corinthians 1:13-18; Ephesians 4:3; 6:12-18

Our Speech

We are committed to speaking life and faith to one another (Proverbs 18:21). Negative talk and all forms of slander, because they are the language of the enemy, must be avoided at all cost. Ephesians 4:29-32 is our standard for relating to one another. Potential conflicts or corrections must be handled according to Matthew 18:15-17.

We are committed to lives of authentic Christian service, both to the body of Christ and to the world around us. The Holy Spirit gives Spiritual Gifts to each believer so we may serve supernaturally, building one another up, making us strong and effective for advancing God’s kingdom. Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-31

We are committed to being true worshippers of our God both in private and in corporate settings. We worship our God is Spirit and in Truth. We will constantly seek to express our love for our Creator with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. We will continually desire to be the kind of worshippers the Father is seeking. John 4:23-24

Statement of Beliefs

There is only one true God who is the eternal King, Creator, and Redeemer of all that is. He is perfectly holy, just, loving, and truthful. He has revealed Himself to be eternally self-existent, one being in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1-2; 18:25; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 4:11

God the Father

God the Father is sometimes referred to as the first person of the Trinity. The true follower of Jesus is told to think of God, the Creator, as our Heavenly Father, even to the point of calling Him, “Abba.” Our prayers are to be addressed to the Father who will answer and who loves to give good gifts to His children. Matthew 6:6, 9; John 16:23-28; Romans 8:15; James 1:16-17

The Bible

The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God.

Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:9, 11, 105; Proverbs 30:5; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

Humankind was created in the image of God to know and enjoy Him, yet we willfully rejected the Lordship and glory of God for which we were intended. Sin, sickness, death, and judgment entered the world because of our rebellion, and now creation experiences the effects and consequences of the human rebellion. Genesis 1:26-28; 3:1-24; Romans 3:23; 5:12; 6:23; 8:18-21

Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is God’s Anointed One, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s kingdom on earth. He was crucified for our sins, died, was buried, resurrected, and ascended into heaven. He is alive today at the right hand of God in heaven and in His people through the Holy Spirit on earth. He is true God and true man. Isaiah 9:6-7; Matthew 1:22-23; 12:28; John 1:1-5, 14; 12:44-46; 20:28; Acts 4:33; 1 Corinthians 15:3-6; Revelation 1:18

We are saved by God’s grace, through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. God wants all people to be restored to fellowship with Him through repenting, believing, and receiving Jesus as their Savior and Lord. The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, justifies, and adopts us as we enter the Kingdom of God as His sons and daughters.

John 1:12; 3:3-8; 16:8; 20:31; Acts 4:12; Romans 8:14-17; Ephesians 2:1-10; 1 Timothy 2:4; 1 Peter 3:18; Titus 3:5-6

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit indwells and empowers the Christian, enabling each Christ-follower to live a holy life and minister supernaturally. The baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:4-8; 2:4 and/or the filling of the Holy Spirit in Acts 4:29-31 and Ephesians 5:18 equips believers to be bold witnesses for Christ in both word and deed.

Luke 11:11-13; John 14:16-21; 16:5-15; 20:21-23

The Church

The Church as the body of Christ is made up of all those who have been saved by grace through faith. The Church exists to carry out the commission of Jesus by

  • advancing God’s Kingdom
  • undoing the works of the enemy
  • preaching and living the good news of God’s love
  • baptizing and disciplining the nations
  • proclaiming Jesus death, resurrection, and visible bodily return through the practice of communion

Matthew 16:18-19; 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18; John 16:18-19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Ephesians 1:19-23; 3:6-7, 10-11; 4:11-14; 1 John 3:8; Revelation 22:17

Final Things

God’s overall plan is an ever increasing of His government with the visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His glorious bride, His Church, a final judgment, and the separation of the righteous unto eternal reward in heaven and the lost unto eternal punishment of hell.

Isaiah 9:6-7; Daniel 2:35, 44-45; Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:7-8, 11-16; 20:14-15
